Privacy policy
How Smart Little Writers collects, uses and protects personal information.
Effective date: October 18, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Smart Little Writers collects, why, and what choices you have. It is written to meet Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25) and Canada's PIPEDA.
Who we are
This website and the Smart Little Writers program are operated by Smart Little Writers, a business based in Quebec, Canada.
Our privacy officer
Our Privacy Officer is responsible for protecting personal information at Smart Little Writers. You can reach the Privacy Officer through our contact form; write “Privacy” at the start of your message.
What we collect
- When you buy the program: your name, email address and purchase details. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.

Children's privacy
This website and our purchases are meant for adults: parents, guardians, tutors and teachers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a child's personal information is needed for course access, it is provided by a parent or guardian, who consents on their behalf. Under Quebec law, consent for a child under 14 must come from a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, tell us through our contact form and we will delete it.

- To answer your questions
- To send emails you have agreed to receive (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- To understand and improve the website, only with your cookie consent
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations
Who we share it with
We never sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business, under agreements that protect it:
- Stripe (payments)
- Netlify (website hosting and contact form)
- Our online course platform (course access)
- Our email service provider (sending emails you've agreed to receive)
- Google and Meta, only if you accept analytics or marketing cookies
Information stored outside Quebec
Some of these providers store information outside Quebec, including in the United States. Before sharing information outside Quebec, we assess whether it will be adequately protected, as Quebec law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep purchase records for as long as tax law requires, course access information for as long as you have access, and contact messages only as long as needed to answer and follow up on them. Then we delete or anonymize the information.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, withdraw your consent, have it deleted, or receive it in a structured, commonly used format. Send your request through our contact form; we answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limited access to accounts. If a confidentiality incident creates a risk of serious harm, we will notify you and the Commission d'accès à l'information as the law requires.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell customers by email.
